How should I reference an author with a suffix, such as Jr., Sr., or III, in APA Style?

Answer

In APA Style, suffixes such as Jr., Sr., II, III, and IV are included in the reference list entry, but they are not included in the in-text citation. APA's author-date citation guidance specifically says not to include suffixes such as "Jr." in in-text citations.

In the reference list, place the suffix after the author's initials and separate it with a comma.
